From the Bottom of Our Hearts is a collection of essays of encouragement, songs of love, poems of peace, enlightening editorials and features related to mental health issues written by the students of East Literature Magnet School in East Nashville, and published by Write Together Publishing. The book begins with a foreword written by Tipper Gore, founder of Tennessee Voices for Children (TVC), underwriters of the publication. The book aims to offer words of hope and healing to the students of New York City in the aftermath of September 11, 2001.
Plans are currently being made for students from East Literature Magnet school and representatives from the TVC Youth In Action Council to travel to New York City (NYC) and present the book to the NYC school system. All 250 high schools in NYC will receive a copy of the book. Copies of the book are available at a cost of $15 (paperback) and $20 (hardback). Please call Andrea at TVC, 615/269-7751 or 800/670-9882 (toll-free), or print the order form (pdf format) to order your copy.
In conjunction with the book, the students in the 9th Grade Creative Writing Class at East Literature Magnet  recorded and made a video of their song, “Listen to the Words of Our Song”, on July 6. The video is being produced by Baquas, ACM nominee for producing Aaron Tippin’s video for the song, “Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagle Fly”. Baquas and other prominent music industry professionals are volunteering their time to make this project happen. The video will also be distributed to each high school in NYC with the book.
