TVC holds Appreciation Night, honors those who serve children and families

NASHVILLE - Tennessee Voices for Children presented 31 individuals, agencies, organizations, and state departments with awards at its Appreciation Night Ceremony, held August 12th at Events @ 1418 to honor those who make a difference in the lives of children and families.

K-Town Hosts Knoxville Community Leaders at CDF Haley Farm K-Town

Youth Empowerment Network hosted a daylong “Planning Advance” for 35 community stakeholders, family members and youth, staff, and grants management team members at CDF Haley Farm, a lovely 157-acre rural retreat that once belonged to the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Roots, Alex Haley. The Farm, owned by K-Town community partner Children’s Defense Fund, is a year-round retreat center where young leaders, social activists and policymakers can brainstorm strategies that benefit children and youth.

Register for a wonderful one‐day event that will offer seminars to discuss ways you can help your child
experience success in school. Conference costs are covered by community partners, Metropolitan
Nashville Public Schools and Alignment Nashville.
Child care, a light breakfast, and prizes will be provided to make the day a fun learning experience for
you and your family. Come ready to learn, share and be rewarded with a variety of prizes and a
Parent University Diploma!!!!

TVC co-sponsors PROJECT DAD: a DIY Day for Fathers of Children with Emotional and Behavioral Health Disorders

We know that fatherhood is the hardest and most important DIY project of them all!

If you are a dad who has a child with emotional or behavioral health disorders, we are co-sponsoring PROJECT DAD - a day of DIY just for you! Join other fathers on May 22nd to tackle a DIY project, all while networking, sharing stories, and providing support and advice for those in your shoes.

The Tennessee Justice Center announces its winners for Mother of the Year!

Every Mother’s Day, the Tennessee Justice Center selects and honors Mothers of the Year, choosing those who, in the midst of their own family’s medical crisis, speak out to help other families and go above and beyond for their children.

The 2010 MOYs have been chosen, three of which were chosen for their persistance and advocacy for a child facing a mental health issue, and their stories can be read here.
