Millie Sweeney

Mrs. Sweeney holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology from Mississippi State University. While in graduate school, she performed psychological testing at a local Diagnostic and Evaluation unit for teens, developed and implemented behavioral plans for autistic and developmentally delayed consumers at the North MS Regional Center, and served as a weekend houseparent at a shelter for abused and neglected children. Upon graduation, she first worked for the Department of Children Services in Wilson County, TN, handling a caseload that included termination of parental rights and adoptions. Wanting to be more involved in therapy, Mrs. Sweeney took a position as an in-home therapist with Youth Villages in the Intercept program and worked with at risk families throughout middle Tennessee. She was a Home TIES Specialist with Centerstone for five years, providing in home therapy to families in a family preservation program. Mrs. Sweeney joined TVC in 2001 as a supervisor with the Nashville Connection project, supervising a team of 5 to 10 Family Service Coordinators, advocating for parents and children to receive necessary services in the mental health and school systems, and working to develop a system of care in Nashville. She became Project Director for the Nashville Connection project in 2004. A year later she was promoted to Statewide Program Coordinator, overseeing the Nashville Connection, the Statewide Family Support Network, TeenScreen, the Family Connection program, Common Sense Parenting, the TN Parent Information and Resource Center grant, the family component of the Muletown Family Network, and TVC’s Youth in Actions Councils. Now as TVC’s Assistant Director for Programs, she continues to oversee TVC programs across the state, as well as assist with the development of new forces and boards to advocate for children and families, and is part of the TVC management team.

Mrs. Sweeney is married and resides in Hermitage, TN. She and her husband of twelve years have two daughters.
