The State of the Child Conference 2004
Mark Your Calender Now!

October 18 - 20, 2004
Calvary United Methodist Church - Nashville, TN
Making a System of Care A Reality in Tennessee...

The State of the Child Conference, organized and sponsored by Tennessee Voices for Children and collaborating agencies and businesses, is scheduled for October 18-20, 2004 and will be held in Nashville at Calvary United Methodist Church.

This year’s conference, Making A System of Care A Reality In Tennessee, strives to present and explain how and why systems of care work and what Tennessee can do to become a national example for system of care development and implementation. System of care projects in Tennessee is already changing lives one community at a time. However, it takes each one of us to make a system of care work.

The conference will focus on the importance of system of care and how to implement it into your professional field or the life of your special needs child/children. Some of the featured guest speakers include: Barbara Huff, Executive Director of the Federation of Families; Andres Pumariega, M.D., Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at East Tennessee Stare University and co-author of The Handbook of Child an Adolescent Systems of Care; and Beth Stroul, author of A System of Care for Children and Youth with Severe Emotional Disturbances. Tam Gordon, Special Assistant to the Governor for Special Projects, will be serving as Facilitator for the Children’s Cabinet Panel.

While attending the conference, you will have numerous training opportunities, will hear from a youth panel regarding how system of care has affected their lives, will learn how system of care has positively impacted families throughout the state, will have the opportunity to attend break-out sessions focusing on best practices in systems of care, and will earn continuing education credits.

We hope you will join us in making this conference a success and helping us implement system of care in your community.
